He became flesh. . .and so we celebrate!

"The best time of the year
When everyone comes home
With all this Christmas cheer
It's hard to be alone"

"Putting up the Christmas tree
With friends who come around
It's so much fun
When Christmas Comes to Town"

Christmas songs, Christmas movies, Christmas parties, Christmas decor, Christmas cheer....

All of these happy things make up parts of what is quite literally the most wonderful time of the year in my book. Why is it that December flies by much faster than any other month? I feel like I am trying to absorb every second, not wanting to miss one minute of the fun.

I love that everyone seems happier in December. People smile and wish you a Merry Christmas! I love that at this time of year you can walk into any department store, any gas station, turn on the radio, and hear Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole singing about the arrival of my Jesus.

But despite the fact that you can still hear about Angels heralding our Saviors birth and a little baby being born in a manger so many years ago, there is still a world out there that tries to make this holiday about nothing more than a time for gifts, parties, food, and good cheer everywhere. But it's not. It is about the King of Kings being born in a dirty little stable. It's about the creator, humbling himself to the point of being humiliated by those who He created. It's about a love that we could never understand or even begin to imitate, but it's a love that has been offered over and over again to US.

Without Jesus, there would be no reason for celebration, there would be no HOPE. With him in the picture there is hope in any situation we face. Because of his coming, we now have the hope of eternal life, and for that reason . . .

We Celebrate.

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."
-John 1:14

Much Love,
