Allix: portraits || ft. worth portrait & wedding photographer

 photo 001.jpg

I'm officially 1 wedding and 11 days away from maternity leave, which means that the past few weeks and days have been a whirlwind of trying to wrap up all of my weddings and portrait sessions from the summer, (aka: all sessions/weddings edited, galleries uploaded, disks mailed, emails answered, and blogs posted or prepped)  aaaand getting ready for the little raspberry to arrive (apparently that's important.  I guess ;)  So blogging has been a bit slower here recently and I'm excited(?) to say that won't be changing much anytime soon.  Excited because it means that big changes are in the works (a son! is coming! soon!) and I can't deny that I'm thrilled to be exchanging work for kissing my baby's cheeks a million times every day.  I love my work.  I really do.  But.  Um, hello, we're talking about squishy baby cheeks here..

I do have a few more things to share with you guys before I vanish into the mommy wonderland for a few weeks, and this is one of them.  Allix is a dear and darling photographer friend who modeled for me + my interns a few weeks ago at the Summer Adventure.  All of the girls were having so much fun taking her pictures that I could only steal her away for a few minutes, but these are a couple of my favs from our time together.  Thanks for being so lovely for our cameras Allix!

Sarah: 2012 senior || white rock lake portrait & wedding photographer

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

I've had several clients choose white rock lake as their shoot location over the past year, and it's quickly become one of my favorite locations to shoot.  Partly because in spite of the fact that I've shot there 4 times now, I've never shot at the same place twice--there are just so many beautiful spots all around the lake!

Sarah and I hit it off right away--half because she's darlingly (I just made that a word) sweet, and half because she has gorgeous red hair, which heeellllo, obviously meant she's a kindred spirit :)  We had fun by the water, in the queen anne's lace, and took pictures until we'd squeezed every last drop of golden yum from the sunset over the lake.  (Also, as a complete sidenote, I would like to say that during the shoot a little girl came by walking her pet teacup pig ON A LEASH--and completely made my day when she let us pet him. I don't want one myself, but I was thoroughly amused by the fact that she had a pet pig that was treated just like a little puppy.)

About one third of my work is done outside of the dallas/ft. worth metroplex, so I've gotten used to having to co-ordinate with my clients to pick out a shoot location in areas that I've never been to or I'm not familiar with.  But I neeever have to worry about researching good shoot locations before heading out to E. Texas for a shoot.  I can't get enough of that place.  Shoot locations abound--they have a never ending supply of trees, beautiful fields, tall grass, wildflowers, pretty little hidden lanes, and big blue Texas sky.  Put that together with this pretty girls face and what more could you possible want?

Chloe and I wandered around on back country roads, climbed over fences, were chased by dogs and narrowly missed stepping in cow pies several times...all in a good days work :)  I adored the outfits that she had picked out and loved the way they seemed to lend a sweet southern air to the shoot.

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation Chloe--hope this new phase of life is full of adventure!

p.s. tomorrow is the last day to enter for the big giveaway!  You can enter until Tuesday night at midnight (cst), and then I'll be announcing the winner Wednesday morning--so check back then to see if you won!

Much Love,

Amanda: senior 2012 || dallas, tx portrait & wedding photographer

Thursday, March 29, 2012

She's one of the funnest people I have ever met.  Yes, "funnest." Her older sister Whitney has been one of my best friends for about 4 years now, and about one year after meeting Whit I met her younger sister Amanda who I'd already heard so much (craziness) about.  Amanda became good friends with my sister Rachel and then somewhere along the way all four of us became this blob of "best friend-ness."  Amanda and I get asked all the time if we're sisters because of our "matching hair" which is amusing because she's about a foot taller than me.  She likes to tell me that my hair looks like hers, to which I always reply that actually hers looks like mine, because mine came first :)

Everything with Amanda is an adventure.  Literally everyyythiiing.  She will do pretty much anything as long as it's fun and will make people laugh, and can turn routine life into hilarious laugh-so-hard-your-belly-hurts kinds of memories.

We actually we're supposed to take her senior pictures last fall and the night before I was scheduled to head out to E. Texas for the shoot she was admitted to the hospital with severe stomach pain.  That set off a series of hospital stays and endless doctor visits over the next few months.  She had to give up basketball (which she looooves) her senior year because of her health and yet through it all hasn't lost her happy-go-lucky-ness and complete trust that God knows what He's doing and that He only gives good gifts.  She's a dear one.

p.s. she gets told all the time (because of her height and hair) that she looks like Taylor Swift, so I just had to include one of the pictures where she's doing her T-swift hair toss... ;)

I posted part one of this beautiful girls shoot about two months ago.  We shot the first half of her pictures last Fall, and a few weeks ago spring started to creep in with lovely weather that allowed us to get out and take the rest of the pictures.  And as much as I adore the last pictures, I think these are even more favorite-er (*made up word alert!).

Anytime the two of us are together there is a high concentration of laughter, and this hour of chasing golden light through fields and back country roads was no different.  I couldn't help but post a few of my favorite outtakes at the end for your enjoyment--she's such a ham :)

Much Love.
