I'm officially 1 wedding and 11 days away from maternity leave, which means that the past few weeks and days have been a whirlwind of trying to wrap up all of my weddings and portrait sessions from the summer, (aka: all sessions/weddings edited, galleries uploaded, disks mailed, emails answered, and blogs posted or prepped)  aaaand getting ready for the little raspberry to arrive (apparently that's important.  I guess ;)  So blogging has been a bit slower here recently and I'm excited(?) to say that won't be changing much anytime soon.  Excited because it means that big changes are in the works (a son! is coming! soon!) and I can't deny that I'm thrilled to be exchanging work for kissing my baby's cheeks a million times every day.  I love my work.  I really do.  But.  Um, hello, we're talking about squishy baby cheeks here..

I do have a few more things to share with you guys before I vanish into the mommy wonderland for a few weeks, and this is one of them.  Allix is a dear and darling photographer friend who modeled for me + my interns a few weeks ago at the Summer Adventure.  All of the girls were having so much fun taking her pictures that I could only steal her away for a few minutes, but these are a couple of my favs from our time together.  Thanks for being so lovely for our cameras Allix!

Greta: bridals || dallas, tx engagement & wedding photographer

It was like she stepped right out of a storybook fairy tale.  The dress, her hair, the grace and charm that accompanied her everywhere, and her sweet demure smile made me feel as if I was surely taking pictures of the duchess of something or another.

We took Greta's bridals at her grandparents home in East Texas that I'm convinced is actually a little piece of England that they somehow managed to smuggle home in their suitcases.  The house and grounds were exquisite and I don't know that I've ever been more in photographer heaven than I was that day.  Everything, especially the sweet girl, conspired together to make this the most breathtaking session I've ever done.  And I'm not exaggerating in the least little bit when I say that.

Greta, you were beautiful, both this day and your actual wedding day and it was an honor and a pleasure to capture this once in a lifetime occasion for you.

p.s. Princess Kate has nothing on you... ;)

"The best thing about dreams is that fleeting moment,
when you are between asleep and awake,
when you don't know the difference between reality and fantasy,
when for just that one moment you feel with your entire soul
that the dream is reality, and it really happened."

Much Love,

Jacob & Annie: engaged || dallas, tx engagement & wedding photographer

Though they both attended the same college, Jacob and Annie's paths didn't seem likely to cross each other since music and nursing majors rarely interacted.  But they did cross, thanks to a bible study they both started attending just a few years back.  Jacob first knew Annie as the sweet girl that every guy in the group was crushing on, though she was seemingly unaware of almost all of this ;)  And while he thought she was pretty and fun, he wasn't interested in becoming just another guy on that list, so he kept his distance, and didn't even attempt much of a friendship with her.

Things continued like this for months, during which Jacob even cheered a buddy on as he became interested in Annie and eventually asked her out.  Annie wasn't interested though, and when she turned the guy down Jacob realized that he was ...relieved?  glad?  Because Annie WAS sweet, and beautiful, and loved Jesus more than any girl he'd ever met, and he was suddenly ready to fight his way through the crowd of suitors that seemed to always surround her and win her heart.

Fight for her he did, and though the process was slow at times, he won her with his quiet confidence, compassion and love for people, and his ability to "make everyone anybody and everybody around him feel important and at ease."  One of Annie's first impressions of him even before they started dating was that he was "more like Jesus than any person I have ever met."  They read books together, drank coffee and cooked together, and quickly became the best of friends.  When Jacob asked Annie to marry him last December she said yes and they're getting married next month!

Congratulations Jacob & Annie, thank you for including me in this special time of your life, enjoy a few of my favorites from your engagement session!  Can't wait for your wedding day!
