Friday thoughts on Fall, Football, & "Fumpkins" . . .

Friday, October 16, 2009

So it's Friday and I am currently feeling the urge to forget about work and run outside to dance in the sunshine that has finally found it's way to my house. After two weeks of almost non-stop rain and gray skies, when the clouds finally parted yesterday afternoon to let the sunshine peek through, my heart did about three cart-wheels in celebration :) What can I say, I'm a sunshine and roses kinda gal ;)

But running outside isn't an option right now, there are pictures to be edited, blog posts to be written, Disks to be burned, and the list goes on and on . . . So I figured, if I can't be outside in the amazing Fall weather, I could at least have some fun writing about it ;) Hence the title of this post, I'm going to talk about some of my favorite "F" things right now. And maybe even some things that don't start with "F", because, alliteration only works to a point people.

I have to admit right off the bat, I'm a Summer girl at heart. I love love love the Summer. I love the sunshine, the sweet tea and lemonade, the cute clothes, the flip-flops, the tans, the swimming, the ice-cream, the family vacations, the way it doesn't get dark until late at night . . . I mean really, it just doesn't get much better than all of that. BUT, with all that said, there is still something amazing to me about the changing of the seasons. I love the way each season slowly creeps in, and by the time Fall decided to start to creep in a few weeks ago, I was ready for it.

Football is probably one of my favorite things about this time of year. I like watching a few select NFL teams (read: Colts and Cowboys) but I LOVE watching college ball. Aaaand, of course I cheer for the one and only, always the best, Texas Longhorns! I was born into their fanhood, with my grandfather and both parents having graduated from UT, I've been wearing burnt orange from day one :) I might even be admitting to a teeny weeny crush on our big man Colt McCoy, but then again I think I have had a crush on pretty much every single one of our QB's dating back to Major Applewhite. Yep, probably where my obsession with red hair started ;)

Our biggest rivalry game is tomorrow . . . TX vs OU! I just hope this wont effect my relationship with any potential clients that might happen to like the Sooners. I promise I will still be nice to you, really I will . . .

Another Fall Favorite is all the yummy Food that goes with it (man, I am cranking with the alliteration today ;) Seriously tho . . . I am in love with pumpkins, which in order to fit in with the theme here today have been termed "Fumpkins". Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Bread, Pumpkin Spice Latte's (I finally tried one the other day and fell in love!) and my adorable little Pumpkin that I have sitting out in my room.

Ok, confessions of a grandma here. I like knitting. And crocheting. But the only time I really get the urge to knit is through the colder months of the year. Scarves, blankets, and right now I am working on a pillow for my bed. It's gonna be super cute guys, I promise.

Another little tradition I have is that with the changing of each season I buy a new nail polish color to use over the next few months. So just the other day I bought this deep Purple color that I am in LOVE with. It's so so cute. So girls, if you haven't already, go pick out a new fall color to make your toes look pretty ;)

So there ya have it folks, just a few of my favorite things about Fall. And now I'm off to scurry through work as fast as possible so I can get outside while there's still some daylight left!

Go jump in some leaves, watch some football, and enjoy your weekend!

Much Love,
Jessica Shae

  2. Opposites attract? Umm,...Football-CHECK!, Pumpkin spice lattes, pie, etc.-check, Fall nail polish-check, ANYTHING FALL-check. Maybe we're best friends because I hate knitting/crocheting...you've got a point there. :)
