Evan & Shaylee: wedding {austin, tx engagement & wedding photographer}

Although lead shooting will always be my favorite, (what can I say, I'm a first born control freak, who likes to be in charge;) I've enjoyed all the second shooting opportunities that have come my way over the last year. It's allowed me to watch other amazing photographers in action, and it's opened my eyes to all the (many) different ways you can go about shooting weddings. It also gives me the opportunity to focus more on the details, and small stuff, which is something I don't get to do as much when I'm lead shooting. I appreciate so much all the photog's who've allowed me to work with them, I've learned so much from each of you!

I had the opportunity to assist Phillip Glickman with several weddings last fall, but this one was definitely my favorite. Shaylee and Evan's day was so beautiful, and one of the classiest wedding's I've ever seen. Not to mention the fact that Shalee was one of the sweetest most genuine Gorrrrgeous girls I've ever met. :)

Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

I have so many "favorite moments" in every wedding day.But one of my favorite favs are those last few moments back in the bridal room where the bride is nervously primping and fluffing herself for the millionth time...and staring at herself in the mirror like she doesn't recognize the grown up girl in the wedding dress, like she can't believe it's really her day!

Dream list #35: personal. {dallas tx engagement and wedding photographer}

So I think we should just get one thing straight before we go any further.I love the country.
I actually kind of adore the country, and everything that goes along with it. I love big trucks. I love Cowboys. I love hay bales. I love fields of crops. I love country music. I love barns. I love big country houses with wrap-around front porches.
That's not to say that I can't appreciate certain things about the city, or that I think it's all bad. I spend most of my life in big cities. I live in one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, (unfortunately) and travel to several of the biggest most popular cities several times a year. And I do have to admit that both Chicago and San Fran have stolen little pieces of my heart with their fabulousness. But I like for them to be there for me to visit, not to live in. As usual Anne sums it up best:
"I think I would probably come to the conclusion that I'd like it for a while... but in the end, I'd still prefer the sound of the wind in the firs across the brook more than the tinkling of crystal."
I love the fresh air that you can't find in big cities. I love the big starry skies at night, the wide open fields, and the thick forests full of tall trees. I love horses and big belt buckles and I loooove Cowboy boots.
I've been waiting and saving for a pair of my own for several years now. Dream list #35. I wanted a pair of legit, for real, Cowboy boots. And as of two days ago I'm now the proud owner of beautiful Ariat boots. I've hardly taken them off for the past 48 hours. And they definitely deserve a blog post of their own. ;)
I just had to include this first series of pictures for your enjoyment. Oh the joys of being a photographer, and trying to explain to your little sister how to take pictures.Please don't ask what I was doing, because really...this is how all the pro's look when they are teaching ;)










I just really like looking down at my feet and seeing them there ;)


I cleaned/oiled them this morning...and I felt so legit that I wanted to saddle up and go round up a few cows or something when I was done. ;)





And unlike Taylor Swift...my dream is not to someday "be livin in a big ol city" but hopefully someday I'll be living in the wide open country. With my Cowboy and horses of course. ;)

I'll take one in every color please: personal {dallas tx, engagement and wedding photographer}

I don't die my hair. I don't have 20 pairs of different colored heels in my closet. I don't have tons of jewelry and I don't wear bright pink lipstick (usually;). I love my fake pearls, and I think it would be safe to say that over half my closet is...black. Black shirts, black skirts, black dresses, black flats, black tights...etc. etc. I love it because it's easy, goes with anything, can be dressed up or down, and is always classy--not to mention slimming ;)

But every girl has to have her vice, right? And I'm a firm believer in incorporating at least a liiittle bit of color into every outfit. So sometimes I wear a colorful ribbon or headband in my hair, but here recently I've become a little bit obsessed with--nail polish. I love all the different sizes of bottles and shades of every color, I love the sparkly kinds, the flat kinds, the dark, the bright...there's just so much "scope for the imagination" in trying them all out.

My new goal? To find every color and try it. I've yet to try black, or find a yellow I like, but I think I'll wait for summer to try out that one ;)

My two current favorites:

rich deep navy blue, and hot pink.

Eirn & Jennifer: wedding {dallas tx engagement & wedding photographer}

I second shot alot last year.

It was so much fun to work with different photographers and learn different tricks and tips of the trade, to see how different people shoot and I learned so much from it. Last Fall I shot alot with Laura of Fairy Tale Photography and this was one of my favorite weddings I did with her. Eirn and Jennifer's Catholic wedding was gorgeous and I loved the chance to shoot alot of details. It's always fun not to have the pressure of being a lead shooter every now and then and focus on the little details.

These are just a few random of my favorites from the day.

Her dress was so incredible, unlike anyone I'd ever seen. And it looked so gorgeous on her!





Jennifer's bridals that we shot that day are some of my favorite that I've ever taken. She looked like she'd walked straight out of Grace Kelly's era. So graceful and elegant.
